Holy crap summer is already over?! School is back in session and being lazy is no longer a thing. I have a lot of fun content planned for the new school year. Starting off with just a short post to share my goals for this semester.
Consistently update calendar with upcoming assignments and "backwards plan" in an effort to complete my assignments ahead of time. The goal is to do a little at a time and have it done!
Study a little every day! This one is a valiant goal, but studies do show that those who study consistently, do better in class.
DO THE READING BEFORE CLASS! This is an area I have consistently struggled with all throughout college and I want to really focus on this, especially because this semester I have teachers who have assignments due at the beginning of class to prove you did do the reading.
Finally, GPA. This semester I want to shoot for mostly A's. I am trying to bring up my cumulative GPA in order to get into an honor society. It's one of my biggest goals, but each of the ones listed before are essential to reaching this!
Let me know what your goals are for this upcoming semester and feel free to comment. Good luck everyone!
So one thing I will fully admit to falling prey to, is that since I moved up to Northern California, I have essentially become a hermit. I stay at home and hardly ever go out, well more so I fall into a routine of work and school and one or two people I see, and for a while there I hardly ever talked to any of my friends or family. Suffice to say, it wasn’t the best time.
But that was just me, for some, you may enjoy being alone and that’s ok! Each person has their own schtick, but if you want to get out more and try to be more social, I hope this helps!
I've reached the point where I consider myself and extroverted introvert. I have definitely become more of an introvert over the years but with the right people and situation my extroverted, social butterfly side comes out.
Deep down I feel like pretty much everyone in some way wants to connect, to find a group they are comfortable with. Recently I’ve heard my dad and a few others talk a lot about ‘their tribe.’ Frankly, I have been a little confused by that expression. But essentially, I think it’s one in the same. Your tribe, your social group, your crew, etc., whatever you want to call it, the existence of one in your life is important. In one blog post I read by Claire Obeid, she makes a great point, you need to find balance between your hermit and your social butterfly. (You can check out her post here.)
For the purpose of this post here are a few key tips to getting yourself back out there that I had to learn:
Sometimes you have to be the one to ask. I’m the kind of person who often, I feel like I have to have an invitation to do something fun. But waiting around for someone else to make the first move doesn’t work out. If you feel the need to get out and want to hang out with people, you need to be comfortable making the first step and asking others to hang out. Even if it’s something as simple as “hey let’s go get coffee” or going for food, for me I like to go karaoke or go bowling (despite the fact that I stink at it lol).
People are there for you, trust me. Sometimes when you’ve shut yourself off for a while, it’s easy to forget that you have friends who like being around you. So when you are trying to step back out, that can be the scariest part, feeling like no one is there. I can almost guarantee that there are at least a few friends you are overlooking. Try posting something on Facebook about wanting to get together and see who responds. Text people you used to hang out with, they are there.
Find your tribe. Like I talked about earlier, you want to find that group of people you feel comfortable around and you know you can go to. Within that tribe, you want to make sure you have at least one or two close people you know you can turn to regardless of if you are having an off day, or just who you know would be willing to make time for you. I have a small handful of people like this, my best friend and “hetero-life partner” (a term I learned from my roommate) is two hours away from me and with conflicting schedules we can’t always see each other, but I do know I can call her whenever. In closer proximity, I have another best friend who is always there for me and I’m very glad they came into my life and has pointed out, none too subtly, that I needed to get a life!
Don’t push yourself! While the other three tips are all about getting out there and getting in contact with people, maybe forcing yourself out of what has become your comfort zone, you want to make sure you don’t overdo it all at once. If you push yourself to do too much too fast, you could stress yourself out and it may even backfire. So with all these, find your own pace. Be sure to check out the other post I linked above because she does have a lot of good tips about finding a balance in your life.
I definitely fell even farther into being a hermit after my relationship ended. For a while it was just work and school and that was it. I know I neglected this blog a lot in the past year due to everything that was going on in my life and I want to change that along with finding a balance between my obligations and my hobbies. With a new job and summer here its time to push myself into new, healthy habits. Wish me luck!
If anyone has any other tips please let me know, thank you!

Everyone has their "New Years Resolutions" and I feel like a lot of the time these drop off within the first several months of the year. And to be honest, a lot of the time the goals we make for ourselves are very broad or very large goals that we become overwhelmed by and just forget about or get too overwhelmed by the prospect.
So I just wanted to create a simple (yet a little vague) list of goals that I want to keep in mind throughout the year...and yes I realize in this list I switch between first and second person a lot lol.
Be Yourself!
It's ok to be yourself, and people who aren't ok with that don't need to take priority.
It's ok to be on my own.
Learn how to survive on my own!
Stop putting yourself down!
Build self confidence and self worth.
Get to know myself
Blog, read, and write on a regular basis.
Work out on a regular basis.
Complete the rock climbing mile high challenge at school.
Stay up to date on project pan.
Read 20 books this year.
Get my GPA above 3.3.
Work on developing study plans and sticking to them.
I'm going to try and do my best and update you on some of these that have deadlines. Any related posts will be linked in the list. If my reading goals and project pan posts have not been posted already they will be soon!
What are some of your goals for this year? Share them with me in the comments.
Hi everyone, I will be continuing project pan into this year with some pretty ambitious goals. I picked out 20 items that I want to completely use up by December 31st. You can check out my original project pan post here, along with my 2015 wrap up.
Here is my list with my revisions in pink. I made these revisions in an effort to use up products that I don't really use and move them out of my collection. (Please forgive my handwriting)
I also made a broader list of goals of the amount of each category I want to use up. I want to finish:
- 2 bronzers
- 3 foundations
- 1 blush
- 1 lipstick
- 3 eyeliners
- 2 face powders
- 1 face primer
- 2 eye primers
- 3 concealers
I will be posting more frequent updates through my Instagram page, so be sure to check that out by clicking here or the button in the side bar.
I will keep you guys posted as often as possible. Will any of you be participating in project pan this year? If so, what are your goals? Let me know in the comments!
Hey everyone, I know I am late to the round up considering that it is now February, but I figured better late than never. I didn't accomplish all of my goals, but, considering the fact that I started in about October/November area, I'd say I did pretty well. (You can check out my initial post here.) So, here we go:
Here is a picture of the overall products
1. Hit pan on the Walking on eggshells palette - Lid and Crease shades - Fail! While I did make a pretty good dip in these two shades, I sill have a ways to go.
2. Hit pan on Lorac 2 mini - Rosé. Nope, just a dip.
3. Hit pan on Maybelline Fit Me Powder - Did it ^_^ now to make as much progress as I can in the next two months. Dang! Look at that pan!
4. Finish Covergirl 3 in 1 Foundation - DONE!!! Woop Woop! I absolutely love this foundation and I always tended to get complements on my skin when I wore this. I wan to use up some of the other foundations I own first, but I definitely plan to repurchase this foundation. It also has a pretty good shade range so I would really recommend this to everyone!
5. Finish Dream Smooth Mousse - Ha, yeah no....honestly I hardly touched this foundation because even though it is the lightest shade in the range, it is still a bit too dark for me right now. I plan to use it up over the summer. I really do enjoy it though.
Products that weren't completely finished, but for some reason forgot to take out the smashbox primer!
6. Finish Smasbox Photo Finish Primer - Really proud of myself for finishing this! I have maybe one or two uses left if I really try and get all thats left at the bottom but overall I am calling it done. I really like it and do have another mini sample size, but I am looking forward to trying other primers.
7. Hit pan on Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer - WOOOHOOO! This is the first bronzer I truly fell in love with. I am super fair so finding a bronzer that doesn't make me look orange or muddy is a mission. I definitely plan on saving up for the full size!
8. Finish Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie - Didn't totally finish it, but did make massive progress.
9. Finish Makeup Geek Creme Brûlée - Really close to finishing this, I had to repress it because of how far out to the edges it was getting. I am annoyed with myself for not taking a picture of it before I repressed it but oh well. I actually hit pan on the repress today.
10. Finish Makeup forever hd 117 - FINISHED!
11. Finish Neutrogena moisturizer - Finished! I really enjoyed this as a light everyday moisturizer. However, I want to give other ones a try and find something I really enjoy and can actually see benefits from, especially now that it is cold and my skin is even dryer than normal.
Products that I finished, plus my Maybelline concealer for some reason...lol
I am super excited to see the progress I can make in 2016. I have got some ambitious goals, keep a look out for that post!
Happy new year everyone! I hope you all had a fun and safe night. I don't know about you, but I am incredibly happy 2015 is over. It was a very rough year for me with a lot of ups and downs and things going wrong. I am hoping things will just be ok for a while, or get better.
I don't want to focus on the negative things right now, instead, here are some of the good things that happened this year:
- Made new friends
- Moved to a new place
- Gotten mostly A's and B's in school
- Gotten better at makeup
- Celebrated my 3 year anniversary with my boyfriend (and got a new years kiss)
I will be starting what should be my last semester in community college in two weeks and in the mean time, waiting to hear back from CSU Sacramento, fingers crossed! My goals for this year are just to work on myself and improve my state of living. Being more active with cleaning and exercising are at the top of the list along with doing well in school. I want to stop putting up with people who hurt me and remember that it is ok to be selfish when it comes to myself and that it is ok to put myself first.
I don't want to make and super specific or crazy difficult goals for this year, but I want to have just a few guidelines to work with. The only real specific goals I have are to read 20 books, and take some fun fitness classes like dance, because I have been wanting to do that for a while.
What are your new years goals? Let me know, and I wish you luck with them.
So when you are like me and collect makeup, as your collection grows you forget to use some things. A few months ago I found two hastags on Instagram #panthatpalette and #project10pan, and they really inspired me to really focus on using what I have already in my collection.
The point behind project 10 pan is to use up 10 items in your collection before the end of the year. Here is my list of 10 items and I specified whether my goal is to completely finish the product, or just hit pan on it because realistically there are some items I know there are no way I can finish in the remaining two months, but I am going to make as much progress as I can.
Clockwise from the top: Maybelline Fit Me, Lorac Mini Pro, Walking on Eggshells, Peach Smoothie, Creme Brûlée, and Milk Chocolate Soleil.
Smashbox Primer, Covergirl 3 in 1, Neutrogena Sensitive Moisturizer, Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse
1. Hit pan on the Walking on eggshells palette - Lid and Crease shades
2. Hit pan on Lorac 2 mini - Rosé
3. Hit pan on Maybelline Fit Me Powder - Did it ^_^ now to make as much progress as I can in the next two months.
4. Finish Covergirl 3 in 1 Foundation
5. Finish Dream Smooth Mousse
6. Finish Smasbox Photo Finish Primer
7. Hit pan on Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
8. Finish Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie
9. Finish Makeup Geek Creme Brûlée
10. Finish Makeup forever hd 117 - FINISHED!
11. Finish Neutrogena moisturizer
Hope this inspired you guys to make progress on items in your collection. I plan on posting an update towards the end of November, and at the end of the year.
After reading the little engine that couldn't a.k.a. Matthew's post on his goals for summer I was inspired by his witty and sarcastic writing to share my goals for the upcoming months with you and tried to channel a bit of his style into this post.
I hope you find my goals entertaining and interesting. I wanted to write about something other than the typical summer agenda of a majority of school kids: sleep until noon every day and go to the beach.
Without any further ado, here are my ten summer goals:
1. Read 5 books.
Since starting college I have fallen so behind on reading anything aside from what was assigned. I used to have at least two personal books in my backpack at any given time. Seriously, in middle school I would get in trouble for reading in class, get my book taken away and then just pull out a different book!
Will probably create a summer reading list on my Goodreads account.
2. Find a job.
This one is a must since I have moved and am now currently unemployed. My boyfriend keeps making jokes about being my “sugar daddy” in the mean time! As much as I love him, and that he is offering, being a grown up I unfortunately have bills that call my name every month.
3. Be more active on my blog and writing in general.
I have had this idea for a book in my head for years and I have written bits and pieces so I want to try and put that together.
I seriously neglect this blog during the school semesters and I feel bad about it, but unfortunately for the past year and a half I have been overloading myself when it comes to school and work and I barely have had time for sleep.
So believe me when I say that for the time I don’t have a job, I am taking advantage of sleep as much as I can!
4. Kick ass in my summer classes.
Since I am a double major I have a ridiculous amount of classes I need to take before I can transfer to a four-year university. My goal is to graduate from community by spring of 2016, however, that is looking harder and harder. So I am taking two classes online to try and ease the amount I have to take the coming year.
Or so I tell myself as I will likely continue in my overachieving, put too much work on myself, ways… Wish me luck!
5. Get my life in order.
Ah yes, the ever present, daunting task that every young adult, well really all adults, must face.
Can we all agree that it is ridiculous that in your senior year of high school you still have to ask for permission to use the restroom and then a mere months later upon graduation, you are expected to have your entire future figured out. Um, what?
So this one probably wont be completed this summer, but I can still try.
6. Come to terms with the fact that I am no longer a teenager.
Seriously! I find it so crazy that tomorrow is my 20th birthday! Where in the world has the time gone! I feel like just a short time ago I was still in middle school! Well it doesn’t help that I still get told I look like I am in middle school… But now I am a full blown adult with bills and independence and, and….can I just have nap time back???
7. Stop eating so much fast food.
I swear fast food is an addiction! My tummy pudge hates me.
Speaker box: “Hi, welcome to McDonalds can I take your order?”
Me: “Um yeah, food that is good…um just give me one of everything. And don’t forget the extra large oreo McFlurry.”
What am I doing with my life?
8. Get ripped.
Highly unlikely I will come out of this summer with washboard abs and a thigh gap (don’t really care about the gap anyway) but I would just like to get toned up. I think it is ridiculous that I am considered on the high edge of overweigh. I am supposed to be between 115-130. I am barely over that, well like 15 pounds over that but still. Shall we revisit number 7?
However, I do want to do a cosplay of Selene from Underworld and if I am getting into a spandex body suit, there will be no jiggle. I WILL DEFEAT THE JIGGLE! MWAHAHAHA!
9. Find the Holy Grail.
Or you know I could just rewatch the movie for the millionth time and laugh at the Monty Python cast and annoy my friends for the next two days with non-stop quotes from the movie. If you haven’t seen it, drop everything because your life is not complete until you do.
10. Go to the river.
I have lived about a 10 minute drive from the beach my entire life and it is really strange not being that close. But on the upside there is a cool lake nearby that allows swimming and has barbecues so that sounds like a fun weekend.
What are some of your goals for this summer? Anything life changing planned as we once again celebrate the two months we have to catch up on sleep and our social lives?
- Go for a walk regularly. Develop a schedule and stick to it. Aim to get set into a routine.
- Try to eat vegetarian one day a week. I know a few people who do this and it has helped them by keeping their diets a bit healthier.
- Encourage a positive attitude and try to be more optimistic. Keep a journal of things I am thankful for.
- GO TO BED ON TIME! I have a horrible habit of not falling asleep until after 11pm or after midnight when I have to be awake by 6am. I am going to try to stick to a regular bed time; I think this will help stop me from being constantly tired.
- Keep in touch with family and friends. Call my dad and grandparents at least every other week. I am not the best at keeping in touch but I am going to make an effort.
- DON’T PROCRASTINATE! This is one of the reasons I get to bed so late, haha. I do have a pretty bad habit of procrastinating that I would like to try and break this year. I will definitely be googling tips on how to break this habit and the biggest part will be just forcing myself to follow a schedule and stop saying “5 more minutes” or “eh, I’ll do it tomorrow.”
Hope you all had a happy holiday season and new year and I wish you all luck in 2015.
<3 Kimmie
Today the Daily Post's Blogging 201 challenge started. I am super excited to be participated in this since I also participated in Zero to Hero (Blogging 101).
For the first post of this challenge I wanted to share with you three goals that I have for this blog, here we go!
1. Publish three times each week through June. I know I have been sporadic in the past about when I post so this goal is to help me establish consistency and a pattern.
2. Increase my blog traffic by 20% by June. I honestly don't know how many people read this blog but I would love to see my reading base expand. (Also, for those of you out there who do read this it would mean the world to me to leave a comment and let me know you were here. Give me feedback, misc comment, anything!)
3. Finally, I want to create a community. I want to be able to talk to my readers, have conversations and just connect with you out there.
Hugs from my screen to yours! <3 Kimmie
P.S. Let me know if I should set up a Facebook page for this blog. Also, I have a personal twitter but would it be a smart move to create a separate one for blogging?
I know its already almost through January and I am probably really behind on getting this post out but that is ok. I talked a little bit about my resolutions on my happy new years post but after reading/watching Michelle Phan's post/video on her resolutions I relized that it would be a helpful idea to write out my goals in detail and if I post them up here then I really have a reason to keep going. So here they are:
1. Get in shape. I know this sounds like everyones new year goal of "I'm going to get in shape and loose x amount of pounds and blah, blah, blah" so superficial and it often times falls through. However, with this in mind I have set my stepping stones for achieving this monumental task and I have a final goal for this one as well! My plan is to follow the monthly workout calendar put out by Blogilaties and I was thinking of fixing up my bike and riding it to work. The reason behind this is because I want to be able to complete to Spartan Run Trifecta with my dad. Plus I overall want to be healthy and fit.
2. Be thankful for everything around me. I've talked about the book "The Magic" before, and I am going to start the 28 day process from the beginning and continue through it after that. How often do we take the time to appreciate what is around us? How often to we let someone know we appreciate them. My goal is to be thankful for everything I have, every day. I want to make myself and my life better through gratitude.
3. Do well in school. Pretty self explanatory on this one. Also, I want to save up so I can go back to a four year and get into an absolutely amazing school!
4. Put myself first in my own life. For such a long time I have always had the tendency to put everyone else's needs and happinesses above my own. BUT I've come to understand that I need to focus on making myself happy because at the end of the day I have to live MY life and I can't do that if I have completely neglected myself. Some may say this sounds selfish but whatever. I've learned that if you aren't happy then its not really worth it.
5. Let go of the past. I tend to let so many things from my past haunt me and continue to bring me down and make me unhappy. I want to figure out how to let those things go, accept that they happened and move on so I am not bogged down for the rest of my life. The new year is a time to start with a clean slate and I finally want to give myself that. Two quotes that I thought of while writing this were: "Regrets are a waste of time. They are the past crippling you in the present." - Under the Tuscan Sun, and from Kung Fu Panda, "There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the 'present.'"
Hey everyone! I hope you all had an amazing new years! I got to spend it with my extended family (the Baileys) and I spent the night over at their house.
At first it was kind of boring to be honest with you and I was a little bit upset because my friend Matthew (the son of the house lol) basically he bailed on us and ditched to go hang out at another friends house after we had already discussed and made plans. >:P so meh, yeah that was a bit upsetting.
Other than that we watched a lot of movies and had fun just sitting around the fire place. It wasn't like a "rager" but it was very relaxed and just close, family setting.
So on, are you guys excited for the new year?
I can't believe that it is already 2014. This past year just went by so fast and a lot of amazing things happened as well: I started college, I bought a car, I got the most amazing job from applying on a whim, I made so many new friends, got to finish living out a dream I have had since I was 14, my boyfriend and I celebrated one year and I'm really excited that I got to reconnect with my dad. I am so happy to finally be making up for lost time and rebuilding my relationship with him.
Now, lets talk about new years resolutions! I know, you are probably thinking resolutions, smesolutions (lol I don't even know what I just typed!) those things last for about a month and then disappear into thin air.
Now, while this can be true for most, another thing that really counts is that you truly can do anything you set your mind to. Honestly, one of the main reasons that new years resolutions, or really any goals, fail is because we set these huge goals that we want to achieve then get so overwhelmed. Well luckily I have figured out how to change all that.
One thing that I learned is that just like walking up stairs to get to the next floor, you have to map out stepping stones to your goals. So take just a few minutes, sit down and map out a goal that you truly want to achieve and the steps of how to get there and you will find it is a lot easier to achieve a series of small goals rather that attempting to achieve one massive one.
My list is to do well in college, save up for school, be healthy and in shape because I want to be able to complete the Spartan Run Trifecta!
So what are you going to try to accomplish in this new year? Whatever it is just know that even when you feel down and like you want to give up, remember the list of reasons why you started in the first place, and even if you feel like no one believes in you and is supporting you know that I believe that you can do anything and that all of you out there are strong and amazing people! And in the words of one of my favorite internet guru's Kandee Johnson, as she says at the end of her videos, "you are more beautiful than you know, you are more talented than you even think and you are more loved than you could possibly imagine, even if it just from me!"
One of the best things I love about starting a new year is that you can make it a completely fresh start! Forget about the things that brought you down, mistakes you made or things that you regret. If you hang onto them all you are doing is dragging yourself down with unnecessary baggage. Make this year something special to you! Don't let yourself forget that while you can't decide how your life will play out you can decide how you will react to the things that happen in your life. React in a way that will build you up and make your life better, not worse!
I hope you all have a truly amazing year and achieve all that you set out to and have wonderful times that you will cherish!
Take care, sending big hugs from my computer screen to yours!
