Blaaaaah catch up

Hey blogging world! I'm sorry I went AWOL again. I have just been crazy busy! Why? Well right now I am in crunch time for my senior year.
Essentially in order to do our senior projects we have to be passing all our classes by this week. So basically for the past couple weeks i have been doing my best to get help and comprehend the things i have been learning in physics, working on a video commercial as my final project for econ and getting grading issues fixed in English. And as sad as it makes me, even though I got my grade up by 7%, I was still 4% away from passing advanced physics.
I'm really bummed because I don't know whether or not I am able to do my senior project because even though I have above a b in all my other classes I still have a 66% in physics. Plus, believe it or not, I have never failed a class before :(
Then out of no where I check my grade and I GOT A C-!!!!! I don't think I had ever been so excited to have a C in my life.
So that was one of the main highlights of my past month. Will write about the rest in another post!

Senior Project - "It's Not Taboo"

I am rather excited because I am doing research for my senior project. Essentially what my project is is I am going to be creating a video talking about the biggest challenges people face with getting help about depression, self harm, eating disorders, addiction, etc. (If your remember my post about TWLOHA, that organization is one of the resources I am using in my project)

In the video I would also want to interview people facing these challenges and having them talk about what they have gone through, how they got help and dealt with it in order to inspire others. To let them know that there is help out there and asking for help is something they should not be afraid of. Also, for those who know people going through those challenges it's not a phase and they don't do it for attention.

So next step is doing research on local teen centers, contacting them and writing up my plans. Will post the video as soon as I complete it!

STRESS OVERLOAD!!!

Agh! I'm sure I speak for everyone in the world by saying, stress is evil! And I have been on an overload lately, that is the reason I haven't been posting.

This past two weeks have been pure hell, I swear sometimes I feel like if breathing weren't automatic I wouldn't have time for it. I've been stressing out over homework, and all the DeMolay events coming up and I just caught a really bad cold. I just recently took a break from work because it got to the point that I can't balance everything.
My social life outside of DeMolay and Jobies is basically dead and I barely get to see my friends at school because I leave early in order to walk to Northrop. So basically, no time to breathe...and it doesn't help that right now I can't breathe out of my nose either right now.
Sleep, tea and attempting to relax is in my near future.

Consistency and the seas of the internet

Ok, its officially I really stink at consistency.... I've noticed this a lot, I want to start on something and I forget or get busy and have difficulty staying on the path I need to to make something a habit or accomplish my goals. Any helpful tips on how to beat this horrible cycle?
And I'm sorry that I'm bad about being consistent with my blogging. Truth is, most of the time I'm not even sure what to blog about that would be interesting to read rather than take up a few megabites on the vastness that is the internet. Sometimes I don't even know if anyone is reading this, or if I'm just writing for the vastness.
Anyhow, that was my "couldn't sleep" post. I truly hope this blog of randomness is found entertaining and worth reading by some traveler or surfer of the seas of the internet.

To Write Love on Her Arms

Last night on the news I made a discovery that really got me to actually take interest. There was a segment about a tour for a non-profit organization called To Write Love on Her Arms. On their website their vision states: "To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery."

This really hits home with me because for a long time I struggled with depression (and to be perfectly honest, sometimes still do), cutting and was suicidal. I'm not ashamed to admit that I faced this during my life because I want to encourage people who might possibly be going through something similar to message me if they just need an ear to listen or a friend to lean on.

TWLOHA is now on a tour called Heavy and Light and the tag line is "An evening of songs, conversation and hope." I am still doing research into the movement but I am truly inspired by their vision and the story behind the movement.

I encourage everyone who reads this to at least take five minutes to look at their website, read a little bit and see if this amazing movement can inspire you as well.

Internship and a new friend!

Well I know I haven't talked about this before but I got into a really cool internship program called HIP and it is through Northrop Grumman. I had an amazing second day today working at Northrop as an administrative assistant. I love my mentor and I swear she is like a grown up version of me! Basically what I'm doing so far is helping with simple tasks and getting settled in. Those two hours fly by so fast! Well I can't really tell you guys much because they have really strict security protocol, but I can tell you that I have a feeling I'm going to learn a lot and have an amazing time!

I also got to "meet" an awesome new friend from England over Skype tonight. She goes by Chrysalice and we bonded over making my friend JJ cringe. It was highly entertaining and I laughed a lot. The group of us are so weird and I love it because I can just be goober around people who not only don't care but act the same way! We spent a lot of the call also discussing the politics behind our group the Toy Soldiers. (But then again when isn't there drama somewhere.)

So I know this was kind of a random and possibly boring post but I at least wanted to post something for today!

New year, new me!

Ok, so I know it might be a little late to post my "new years resolutions", but my boss reminded me that it's never to late to start fresh. What inspired this? Well I mentioned to my coworker that I used to do yoga and he invited me to a free Sunday morning yoga class at Lululemon. Well to put it bluntly, I realized how out of shape I was haha. So that led to my decision to get my butt in shape! My goal to start is to loose about five pounds, starting with a small goal and working my way forward. (And I will keep updating my blog with my status as a way to keep myself going)

I'm not big on working out for hours and running till I pass out because to be honest I'm kinda lazy and suck at running XD So here's  my plan: I sat down today to download a couple simple workout/fitness apps so that way when I wake up or have a spare moment I can do a 15 minute workout or however long I want. (Workout Trainer, Daily Yoga, Fitness Flow and Nike Training Club)

Also, I plan to start regularly going to the free yoga class that started this reformation. And finally, the simplest thing is just continuing to go for walks around my neighborhood. I personally love just walking and going at my own pace, I can go and listen to music and think or clear my head. Also, I found out about an amazing hiking trail so maybe I will go check that out and report back!

*Here is a quick tip when you want to make a change in your life: anyone can go all out for just one time for one day and then give up, but what it really takes is doing a little bit at a time repeatedly. So I wish everyone luck with their goals!
