Facts About Me and My Books

Hello!

I wanted to do a fun post about myself, the kind of reader I am and some of my favorite books and such. It's the normal 25 Facts About Me - but book themed! So without further ado, let's get started...

1. I cannot decide on a favorite book of all time but I will say that I shamelessly love romance novels, manga and young adult literature.

2. My favorite series is definitely the Dark Hunter Series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I have mentioned this series before and even did a review on it.

3. My favorite writers are Sherrilyn Kenyon, Cassandra Claire, Shakespeare, C.S. Lewis and Lewis Carroll.

4. I was never the girl to get detentions over stupid behavior, but I would be the one to get my book taken away in the middle of class…then I would just pull out another one from my backpack.

5. I can't read with music in the background, it frustrates me and really distracts me - relaxing music more so than pop music!

6. Yes, I have cried at books. The only ones coming to mind are books in the Dark Hunter Series.

7. My favorite place to read is anywhere. I can read in a car, on the train/bus or curled up with my favorite purple blanket

8. I can stop reading in the middle of a chapter if I have to but I really hate too. Most of the time, I have to read until a page break at the very minimum or I will get lost.

9. The book I was most proud of myself for finishing was the Da Vinci Code. It took me so long to make it through but I finally did and felt like I had accomplished something big and awesome.

10. I hold my head in shame as I tell you that I do indeed fold over the corner of pages to mark my page, but I avoid it whenever possible (I generally use sticky notes or random strips of paper as placeholders).

11. I think my favorite character in YA Literature is Clary Fray. She is thrust into this new world and she is doing everything she can to fight for her mother and family while figuring out who she truly is. She is definitely one of my role models.

12. Some books on my reading list are: #GirlBoss, Uganda Be Kidding Me, Fault in Our Stars (want to see what the craze is about), and Tell the Wolves I’m Home.

13. In terms of love triangles, I’m the kind of person who is like “you can have ____, I’ll take _____” haha. Big examples are, back when I was in middle school and reading Twilight and New Moon I got so angry at Bella for screwing with Jacob’s head I was like, “Jacob, I’ll love you! Forget about Bella!” I think my new favorite love triangle is Clary, Simon and Jace.

14. I read at least two – three books at a time - and sometimes I get REALLY confused. During grade school I would always have at least two books in my back pack.

15. If I'm not engaged by a book, it'll take me at least twice as long to finish than a book I'm interested in. That’s why it always takes me so long to read most of the required books for school. I feel like I am just trudging through. Although isn't that the same for everyone else?

16. I genuinely have an unhealthy obsession with notebooks; I have lost count of how many I have in my room. And I'm not planning to stop!

17. I’m the kind of person that will sit down in the isles of bookstores or library’s and read.

18. There are several books that I haven’t been able to finish. I have picked them up and tried to make it through but get distracted and never finish. My biggest example is The Count of Monte Cristo.

19. I love the smell of books! Don’t know why, just do.

20. I prefer books where the writing is witty and fun and can make me smile. I genuinely try to avoid books that make me sad.

21. I am just getting introduced to “booktubers”, and my the one I have been watching recently is Bookables.

22. I hang my head in shame as I reveal this fact - I watched The Mortal Instruments and several others before I read it. I'm sorry.

23. I get so annoyed when people try talking to me when I am reading and then get upset that I wasn’t listening. I cannot focus on someone talking to me if I am reading.

24. I don’t really read too many book blogs, though I am trying to branch out. The two that I found and have been reading a lot are Blame My Bookshelf and the Mile Long Bookshelf.

25. I am very new to doing book reviews and will probably be borrowing examples and rating systems. Be patient with me as I learn. I will be creating a page at the top with links to all the reviews I have done.

Funny article what does your bookshelf say about you?

My Top 5 Mobile Gaming Addictions

We all have our little addictions when it comes to the apps on our phones. It could be checking Facebook, browsing Pinterest for hours, Instagraming pictures of your food or what have you. For me, it is the games on my phone… So I wanted to share with you a little bit about my android gaming addictions 

1. Clash of Clans. Clash of Clans is a MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game. You build a camp, train troops, develop defenses, join a clan, participate in wars and attack other player’s camps. It is a lot of fun to try and level up and earn trophies. So if you are into MMO’s or RPG’s this might be a fun one to check out.

2. Zombie Café. This is a quirky little game to give you something to do again when you are bored. You build up a restaurant with zombie workers earning points, raiding cafes, unlocking new recipes.

3. Family Guy. I guess the full title is “Family Guy: the Quest for Stuff.” Either way it is a pretty fun game for when you are bored. The basis of the game is that Fox canceled Family Guy and Peter gets into a fight with the head of Fox, which for some reason is a giant chicken…, and then they destroy Quahog in their fight and so as the player you have to rebuild Quahog. They just added a new update where there is this pyramid in the game and you have to create “Adventurer Peter” and you can earn all these idols.

4. Plague Inc. This game definitely has an interesting premise. The whole point of the game is to build a virus/disease and wipe out the world before the cure can be developed to eradicate the disease you created. It is a little strange but it really does make you think and strategize the best way to destroy the world on the varying levels of difficulty. So if you love strategy games you should give this a try.

5. Plants vs. Zombies. I have played PVZ 1 and 2, I like both of them very much and have been addicted to both at one point or another. The only fault I find with PVZ 2 is that they have put several of the plants that were unlockable in the first one, only available for purchase with real money. I really love the new time travel concept of PVZ 2 and think it is a lot of fun with hours of game play.

A couple other games I have been addicted to in the past that are worth checking out: Hungry Shark (literally the whole point is to play as a shark and eat things!), Angry Birds (of course), Happy Jump and Cut the Rope.

What are some of your favorite mobile games? Let me know in the comments :)

Enjoy gaming <3 Kimmie

10 Ways to Cheer Yourself Up and Deal With Anxiety

Hey guys! So I wanted to do this post because I have been suffering from depression and sever anxiety as well as bi-polar for quite a while. But the biggest key is to just find things that cheer you up and make you feel relaxed.

1. Watch a Disney Movie (or really any "kid movie"). Nothing brings back that childhood enthusiasm and innocence like Disney. When you watch a Disney movie you can just feel like a little kid again, when everything was simple. Some of my favorite "kid" movies are Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Tangled and Treasure Planet.

2. Fluffy animals: Petting or cuddling with your pet is actually very therapeutic. A good alternative, Googling pictures of cute, baby, fluffy animals or watching YouTube videos (escaping panda!)

3. Get Comfy. Curling up with a stuffed animal, a cup of hot chocolate and reading a good book. This pulls you out of the real world and into a world of adventure or mystery or the supernatural, wherever the story takes you, it gives you an escape.

4. Meditate. Meditation is a very useful way to relieve stress and anxiety. Through meditation you basically are removing yourself from everything that is happening, removing yourself from your thoughts and just relaxing and allowing your mind to take a break amd sort through everything.

5. Take a bubble bath (or if you prefer a hot shower)! I know this sounds cheesy but bubble baths/showers will relax your muscles and allow you to ease back and take time for yourself. Remember, don't get caught up in thoughts about what made you upset, but try to clear your mind. And people actually do most of there thinking in the shower.

6. Build a Fort! When is the last time you built a fort out of couch cushions and random stuff around the house? Remember how fun it is to just be a little kid again and be silly and care free. Maybe even invite a friend to join you and have a paper airplane fight or pretend that you are warring kingdoms. Just have fun. (Building a fort blog post: click here!)

7. Watch Funny Videos. Three words: America's Funniest Videos! Or just go to YouTube. They say that laughter is the best medicine and I most certainly agree. After all, who can be sad after you just made your sides hurt from laughing? Laugh until you can feel six-pack abs coming in!

8. Ice Cream. I seriously, who can resist ice cream? Cuz I know I can't! Ice cream has to be
one of my favorite things in the world. Plus, chocolate releases endorphins in your brain,  basically a "happy signal."

9. Non-depressing Music! One of the worst things to do when you are down is to listen to music that continues that trend! Put on some funny or silly music. Or even listen to kids music. My happy music is stuff like "If I didn't have you" from Quest for Camelot and the sho-be-do song from Tarzan

10. Blowing Bubbles. One thing I tend to do is go to the park nezt to my house and sit on oneof the swinfs and just vlow bubbles. It's a lot of fun and you can just relax and then race around popping the bubbles! Ha ha.

So the moral of this post is that when you are down or upset, do something that makes you happy, find something that makes you laugh. Don't let it get you down! You havepeople who care about you and think that you are an amazing person. Don't be afraid to shine and when things seem at their lowest,  just remember to smile!
