Summer for College Students and Incoming Freshman

School years have to a close, the weather has been getting warmer, people are going to the beach and it certainly feels like summer is finally in full swing. I want to say congratulations to all the high school graduates this year. Four years of hard work has finally paid off. By now you have already picked the college you plan to attend, probably ordered some gear and are on your way.

But how do you prepare for that much anticipated fall?

1. Start narrowing down what you would want to take and put together a packing list. Remember that dorm rooms aren’t that big.

2. Remember that being homesick is perfectly normal. Some people get hit more than others but don't feel bad if the waterworks turn on every now and again.

3. Don't expect college to be like the movies. The way college life is portrayed in movies is so ridiculously over-dramatized and glorified and just flat out unrealistic. News flash: despite what Hollywood wants you to think, college is not one big party. I have a whole post planned on this so stay tuned!

4. Start checking things off the list. Bed, Bath and Beyond has a pretty good dorm checklist, as well as an apartment checklist, for what to bring and what not to bring to college. While not everything on that list is necessary it is definitely a good outline and hits all the major points of things you do need. Don't wait to the last minute to buy your items!

5. Enjoy your summer! Even though you should be preparing for fall there, one of the most important things to do this summer is to enjoy yourself, spend time with your friends before you all go different directions and make memories that will last.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer and wish everyone luck in the fall! <3 Kimmie

College Survival Guide: The Freshman 15 is REAL!

Source
Before entering college the one thing we all hear about is the freshman 15. For those who for some reason you don't know what that is, it is the 15 pounds you gain from eating at the cafeteria and the all you can eat. (Or for some it is the 15 pounds you loose from going to the on-campus gym all the time.)So This is just a quick post about how to avoid gaining that extra 15 pounds!

So the first way is the most obviouse: AVOID THE TEMPTATION! Avoid over eating in the cafeteria. It is the simplest way but you are also really tempted because you have all you can eat three meals a day. So the biggest key here is to make sure your meals are balanced and your diet is balanced this way you can stay healthy and not over eat or gain that extra pudge. One tip for eating a balenced meal is to go onto .

The other way to avoid the freshman 15 is exercise! You are probably thinking "ugh of course Kim we know" and my response is: well then do it! Take advantage of that on-campus gym. Most universities and even community colleges have a gym that is free for student use so go ahead and take advantage. Or if you are not really much of a gym person you can find exercise videos online (believe me there are tons of them on YouTube.) But the one girl I swear by, I talk about her a lot, is Blogilates. Cassey is funny and sweet and you just feel like you are working out with a friend.

So that was my "just a reminder of the obvious" post lol. Good luck avoiding the dreaded Freshman 15!

Throwback Thursday!!! Washington DC and freshman year!

Hey guys! It's Throwback Thursday and I wanted to show you two different times in my life.

EEEP! That's me when I was I think 11 when I went to Washington DC and the surrounding areas with my grandma and grandpa. I just remember it being so incredibly HOT. Oh, and having to wear "walking shoes" and always thinking that they made me look like big foot ha ha ha. This picture was taken in DC right after I had cut about 12 inches off of my hair to donate to locks of love!

Next Photo.....

This was me in freshman year with Dondei and Misao. I really miss 9th and 10th grade. They were so much fun! I had some of the coolest teachers and everything was so much simpler! Everything was just happy and good and so much less stressful. I was just a crazy kid with a group of equally crazy friends.
